Anticipation Express: Public Enemies

Let me just say first off – I’m not one to get excited about a modern film.  They usually end up disappointing me in some way, so I’ve stopped caring.  But, I’ve got to admit I am getting excited about Public Enemies (2009).

It stars Johnny Depp and Christian Bale in the story of John Dillinger, Pretty Boy Floyd and Baby Face Nelson. The reason it interests me is because it is set back in the 30’s!  Fedoras, amazing cars and great clothes – what could be better?

This film is even more enticing with the addition of Christian Bale.  Christian Bale is the closest we have right now to the old style movie stars, if you ask me.  His dashing good looks and skill for accents has given him the edge over all the traditional favorites.  I don’t go for most of the modern stars.  In 2nd grade, while all my little girlfriends were swooning over Leonardo de Caprio and going to see Titanic 100 times, I remained unmoved.  (Don’t tell them, but I haven’t even seen Titanic once let alone 100 times.)  I feel much the same about the rest of the crew in Hollywood’s stable.  But, Christian Bale is my kind of guy. :)

Anyway, enough of this babbling.  Here’s the trailer, if you’d like to have a peek.  The best part of the whole clip is the shot of Christian Bale in a fedora.  I think there is nothing handsomer than a guy in a fedora. (oh brother, there I go again!)
